About 1 in 4 adults (26%) in the U.S. have some type of disability, including issues with mobility, cognition, hearing, and vision. Many members of our own community face barriers because of the way information is structured or delivered. Each of us has the power to change that, and we all play a role in ensuring that the college fosters an inclusive digital environment.
Join the 10-Week Accessibility Challenge and learn how to make your websites, documents and presentations more inclusive. Each week, we’ll present a challenge focused on a different aspect of digital accessibility. Content is delivered in the form of a weekly email newsletter, allowing participants to follow self-directed activities and access resources at their own pace. After completing all 10 challenges, you'll earn a digital badge that you can add to your email signature.
The 10-Week Accessibility Challenge is an ongoing collaboration of Michigan Engineering and the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.
New for 2025: For faculty and instructional staff that would like to make their course content more accessible, check out our Course Accessibility Challenge.
The next challenge starts on May 27 and runs until July 29; expect to spend 15-20 minutes per week on each exercise. The 10-Week challenge is offered three times a year, in the Winter, Summer and Fall.
The 10-Week Challenge now offers a live, synchronous accompaniment to the email content, in the form of a weekly Zoom session led by Digital Accessibility Specialist Kellie Grasman. Here, participants can ask questions about the activities and resources from that week’s topic, work through live, interactive activities, and seek general advice on implementing accessible design measures into their own daily work.
